Hello! My name is Hong Tien Vu. I am an associate professor and Clyde Betty Reed Professor of Journalism at the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications, University of Kansas.
Before becoming an academic I was a journalist for nearly 10 years with various news organizations including the Associated Press in Hanoi. I was also a public relations professional working mostly for non-profits including Oxfam.
I hold a bachelor degree in linguistics from Vietnam National University in Hanoi. I graduated with a master’s degree from The University of Kansas in 2011 on a Fulbright Scholarship and a doctoral degree from The University of Texas at Austin in 2015.
I joined The University of Kansas as a faculty after finishing my doctoral studies. I am currently a visiting scholar at Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, Yale School of The Environment, Yale University.
